'US rally organizers branded terrorists'

In their efforts to muffle hundreds-strong protests, the US authorities have started labeling protest organizers maliciously, a rights activist tells Press TV.
"We are against some serious obstacles here. We have spent billions of dollars on preventing people for having their civil liberties. Basically anybody, who is a serious organizer that speaks out against our government speaks out against corporations, begins to be called a terrorist in our country," Cheri Honkala, the executive director of the Kensington Welfare Rights Union (KWRU), said in an exclusive interview with our channel.
“All of our presses are corporate controlled, it spits out messages. We do not need military tanks outside of our homes, all we have to do is turn on the television, it feeds us our supposed reality,” said the human rights campaigner, who is also a candidate for sheriff in Philadelphia.
Many Americans still lack the basic necessities while the state of California alone can “feed the world,” Honkala said.
“Philadelphia, where I live, was just named the poorest city in the country. And we have children that go to bed every day in our country that are hungry. We have over three million homeless people. And like I said earlier, every seven second a family is losing their home now in this country.”
Under the banner 'Occupy Wall Street,' people have been holding protests across the US since September 17, condemning top-level corruption and 'corporate greed.'
The movement has now spread to major US cities and other countries, including Australia, Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, and Portugal.
